Now let's play with the words if you want to count 101 in french so just add 100(cent) and 1(Un).

Well, let's see it in mathematic term:- 

100 + 1 =  Cent + un = Cent un = 101.
100 + 2 =  Cent + deux = Cent deux = 102.

  Let's place the words at prefix : - 
500 = 5(Cinq) + 100 (cent) =  Cinq cent.
 501 = 500 (Cinq cent) + 1 (un) = Cinq cent un.
